Even though we stray ...

As a young Christian, I always wonder how God can just accept us into or back into His fold, no matter how huge or much our sins are. I have always thought about the mistakes I have made and if I could forgive myself for them.

For the past few weeks, I have been fighting a battle with myself over some things I've done. I couldn't bring myself to forgive myself. I often caught myself wondering if God would be able to forgive me if I cant forgive myself.

It's a very real battle most of us fight even when we know that no matter what we've done, God will always forgive us.

I am a huge perfectionist and when I do some things sometimes, I just can't comprehend why I would do such or even bring myself to look at myself the same way again or ask God for forgiveness. I always feel like I know better and I know these things. I expect myself to always be on top of it all. Some call it pride, but I look at it as the disease of perfection.

Fortunately, there's something I've always known but just of late came to accept. And that is, that no one is perfect. Perfection isn't human. God is perfection and to kill myself for that would just be inhumane. I know we're supposed to fight to be like Jesus, but no one is saying you should be Jesus.

I logged on to Daystar's lifestream this evening for the midweek service and the first thing I heard the pastor say was a proclamation of God speaking to someone in the audience that had gone astray and that God accepts him or her back into his fold, forgiving and speaking to the person. I accepted the prayer and took it as mine because I know that God loves me, no matter my sins and imperfections. I am His daughter and my continuous strife for his acceptance and a life after his examples pleases him.

I have learnt from the popular psychologist, Dr Luskin to give yourself a break! No matter what it is you've done, beating yourself up about it will only make the situation worse. In his words; "feeling bad about things you've done in the past can create a pretty painful present. So while you're learning how to forgive yourself and move on, give your mind and body a break from all the shame and guilt by replacing them with gratitude".

So yeah, my message for you guys today, is to come to God's fold with an apologetic heart and ask Him for forgiveness and I'm sure he will definitely forgive you. No matter what it is you must have done, He will forgive you. This is because a life with Him is way better than a life without Him. Trust me when I say this!

And yeah, don't forget to replace your guilt with gratitude. Y'all know how I feel about gratitude. Always be grateful. You have what so many people are looking for; God's grace and a wonderful future ahead!

Enjoy the rest of your week and the rest of June. July is just around the corner. Half of the year is gone. What are you thankful for?

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” (Ephesians 1:7)
