Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's birthday celebration cost N1Billion!!

published on Saturday, 31 March 2012

It's like this is the latest rave in town now. Celebrating your birthday for a week or a month! First Daddy G.O.; Pastor Adeboye and now; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

I've been hearing that the whole birthday celebration cost N200 milllion, but now Sahara Reporters are saying it costs N1 billion. On top birthday oh!

According to Sahara Reporters; Asiwaju Bola Tinubu celebrated yet another part of his 60th birthday celebration at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos yesterday. As SaharaReporters earlier reported, the former governor's month-long event is costing Lagosians and several Action congress states N1 billion with local government areas forced to cough out N10 million each. The government of Lagos state puts in N150 million. Governors of Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Osun, Oyo and Edo states all made N50 million donation each. The rest of the money was donated by lawmakers and other politicians and contractors who benefit from the largesse dolled out during the former governor's reign in Lagos and beyond.

Na wa oh!

Man plunges to death in WAEC's collapsed elevator!

published on

A young man named Fatai died today after falling off a moving elevator on the eighth floor of the 12-storey building of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) building in Yaba, Lagos.

Fatai, who had come to the WAEC office to help a relative submit some documents, had stepped out of the elevator when the doors opened midway on the eight floor, thinking he had reached its destination. Unfortunately he stepped out into open space and plunged to his death. The elevator wasn't functioning well and there was no notice to warn people.

Saw on TV this evening as his mangled body was being removed from the building...his arms, legs almost detached from his body. WAEC officials have expressed regret over his death but according to reports, the family of the deceased have taken the matter to the police and might be suing WAEC for wrongful death.

JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board) released the results of the 2012 (UTME) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination a while back. At first I thought it was too fast. But I guess they know what they're doing.

However, yesterday, at a news conference, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, announced that only three candidates scored above 300. He also said the results of 27, 266 candidates across eight states were withheld for various reasons.

I wonder what those reasons are. But for those who want to check their results; buy a scratch card or visit;

Offered up as a free download to everyone willing to listen, "Ehen Ehen Okay Okay" speaks directly of the times we're living in now, not only in Nigeria but in several parts of the world.

Court orders Raymand Dokpesi of AIT; DAAR Communications, to pay Fidelity bank N7.5Billion!!!

published on

Wow! Billion oh; not million! Choi!

A Federal High court in Lagos on Monday ordered Chief Raymond Dokpesi, owner of Daar Communications Plc to pay the sum of N7.5bn to Fidelity Bank Plc.

The bank filed a suit against Dokpesi and his company seeking the recovery of outstanding debts to the tune of N7,524,772.25, said to be repayment of a loan granted the company to enable it broadcast the FIFA Under-17 World Cup hosted by Nigeria in 2009.

According to the bank, the loan was secured by Dokpesi's personal guaranty and by all assets debenture on the fixed and floating assets of Daar Communications valued at N21.3bn.

They added that the defendants also secured the loan with a legal mortgage over a property located at 34, Creek Road, Apapa, Lagos belonging to Baldok Shipping Limited.

Dokpesi had claimed he owed the bank about only about N3bn as opposed to N7.5b. The judge however said: "The claim of the plaintiff relates to principally simple uncontested liquidated monetary claim for interest is within the formal agreement of the parties. The matter appears uncontentious and suitable for judgment in favour of the plaintiff."

"In conclusion judgment is hereby entered in favour of the plaintiff against the defendant in terms contained in the writ of summons filed herein." he concluded.

The writ of summons stated: "The sum of N7,524,772.25 being the outstanding indebtedness from the credit facilities granted by the plaintiff to the defendant. "Interest on the sum of N7,524,772.25 at 21 per cent per annum from May 31, 2011 until judgment and thereafter at 21 per cent per annum until final liquidation."

Chief Dokpesi's lawyer, Chris Uche however announced that his client would appeal the Federal High Court verdict.

He described the judgment as unreasonable, and said the judge made an error by ignoring the notice of intention and a counter-affidavit filed by his client. He also stated that the bank had been paid N4.2 billion by Daar Communications last month.

Kim Kardashian -- Pressing Charges Against Flour Tosser

published on Monday, 26 March 2012

It's official, Kim Kardashian loves attention! Ahan! Anything to remain in the spotlight.
Remember when I blogged about the woman that threw flour at her? Well she has decided to press charges against the woman. According to TMZ, Sources close to Kim tell them that she does not feel the woman who threw the flour at her should get away with it and that she should be held accountable for her actions. According to thier sources, Kim didn't press charges that night because she didn't want to take herself away from the event, which was for charity. They also stated that Kim will contact law enforcement in the next few days to tell them she wants to press charges. According to thier sources, Kim wants to send the message that people are entitled to their opinion, but should not resort to violence.  The decision to press charges represents a change of heart for Kim, who told TMZ Live yesterday she wasn't going to pursue the matter.

Khloe and Lamar getting a Divorce?

published on

I can't stop mentioning this; but I know I'm not supposed to believe everything on but they stated that Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are getting a divorce; all because their show isn't getting good enough ratings. According to the website HOLLYWOODLIFE, KrisKardashian has ordered Khloe to break up with Lamar - so that it could increase the ratings on her show.

And the website is saying that Khloe and Lamar's marriage is virtually over. Here's an excerpt of their report:

A close friend revealed: "Kris is constantly telling Khloe that marital conflicts equals ratings! Kris has convinced Khloe that if it weren't for Lamar, she would not have her own reality show and that if she wants another season she needs to embellish the conflicts in the marriage because that's what viewers want."
But the 56 year-old seems unaware of the damage she is actually doing to her daughter's marriage as her NBA star husband's career begins to suffer due to his role in the reality TV drama.

"Kris is blind to the fact that Khloe and Lamar's relationship is suffering because of reality TV," the source revealed, "Lamar is a pretty laid back person but he has had enough. He feels like a puppet and he has already told Khloe that he is not going to create drama on the show for ratings, in fact, he wants out completely."
